Following meat labeling scams in Northern Ireland, Germany and Holland, the European Commission has proposed several changes to regulations for meat and meat products. The proposal requires food business operators, including all cold stores, to make available to the receiving food business operator and, on request, to the competent authority, the date of production or the date of slaughter. Also required will be the date on which the food was initially frozen or refrozen and the date of minimum durability. More
