Education and Recommended Practices
In conjunction with, and support of, WFLO, provide training and
information in all areas specific to the controlled-temperature
warehouse and logistics industry.
Objectives
- Study, identify, and develop recommended practices and industry
standards and disseminate this information to members. (Staff and
Committees)
- Provide relevant topics and resources at conventions, chapter
meetings, committee meetings, and all other association programs.

- Provide resources and funding to the World Food Logistics
Organization in order for it to continue as the principal technical
resource for industry education and research. (Board)
- Develop, maintain, and update publications and utilize the best
available technology to communicate information to members. (Staff

- Take leadership with other organizations and allied
associations to develop and standardize common practices. (Board and
Staff)
- Develop and incorporate industry recommended practices in all
reference materials. (Staff and Committees)
- Provide a benchmarking and operating ratio report and other
information that enables members to improve specific areas of

Industry Marketing
Pursue a global industry marketing program to increase the food
industry’s awareness of the broad range of services provided by
members.
Objectives
- Maintain and widely circulate among the food industry, trade
publications, and governments a membership directory in both printed
and electronic format. (Staff)
- Use WFLO resources as a strategy to showcase IARW member
knowledge and capabilities to the customer market. (Trends and
Industry Relations Committee and Staff)
- Monitor and assess changing customer needs and provide forums
to guide and assist members in strengthening the industry and
meeting customer expectations. (Trends and Industry Relations

Member Services
Provide a full range of member services, utilizing leading edge
technologies of delivery and communication.
Objectives
- Provide services, products, events and publications that respond to the needs of
the IARW membership. (Staff and Board)
- Support strategic partnership programs, including insurance,
crisis management, and energy services. (Board and relevant
committees)
- Draw on associate members’ expertise to serve IARW active
members. (Board and Staff)
- Support chapters and international cold chain organizations in
order to better deliver services to a broader range of members.

Legislative, Regulatory, and Legal Affairs
Monitor legislative, regulatory, and legal matters and serve as an
advocate to protect the industry and to inform members.
Objectives
- Monitor the development of legislative, regulatory/code, and
legal issues. (Government Affairs Committee and Staff)
- Inform members and help them understand existing and new
regulatory policies and processes. (Government Affairs Committee and
Staff)
- Deploy staff and resources to address specific issues as they
arise. (Staff)
- Seek out industry coalitions in order to maximize legislative
and regulatory influence. (Board, Government Affairs Committee, and

Membership Development
Maintain and build all categories of IARW membership on a global
basis.
Objectives
- Aggressively promote IARW membership globally and maintain an
effective membership recruitment and retention program. (Board and
Staff)
- Regularly examine existing categories and dues structures and
adjust as necessary. (Board)
- Develop and maintain programs that are effective in attracting, serving,
and engaging active and associate members. (Board and Staff)
- Build appropriate relationships with regional and national affiliate associations.

- Develop and support international offices, representatives
or other relationships which support global membership
development goals.

Organizational Performance
Assure that IARW continues as a well-managed and financially healthy
association for the benefit of its membership.
Objectives
- Regularly examine and update the strategic plan and assure
alignment of resources necessary to carry it out. (Board and Staff)
- Develop a management succession plan to ensure continued
excellence in leadership. (Executive Committee)
- Increase non-dues revenue through group services and other
programs. (Board, Committees, and Staff)
- Maintain a professional staff and efficiently equipped
headquarters which can service members at the highest level.

- Establish IARW and WFLO international offices as justified.

- Maintain one year’s total operating expenses in reserve and
