    Project Description

    The World Food Logistics Organization and its national partner, the LSU AgCenter, and its international partner, the University of Stellenbosch developed and began implementing a five year development program for the meat, seafood and poultry industries in South Africa. Primary activities of the project include: 1) implementation of cold chain technologies in a selected company; 2) development of a postharvest technology center at the University of Stellenbosch; 3) implementation of cold chain/refrigerated warehouse management short course.

  • Cold Store Operations Short Course

    The first-ever South African Cold Store Operations Short Course was held February 6-8 in Stellenbosch, South Africa.  The course, a collaborative effort amongst the University of Stellenbosch, WFLO, the South African Refrigeration Distribution Association (SARDA), and Louisiana State University, attracted a total of 44 participants from South Africa and Namibia. 

    The second South African Short Course was held at the Blue Waters Hotel in Durban, South Africa, on August 13-15, 2008. Over 45 participants from South Africa, Botswana, and Ghana attended. More information.
